Phase 4: Coping with Life & Outreach

Internet-Based Support

Each resident during their stay in Gordon House will have received training in the use of the Internet; they will have been given a card with their own 'log in' code that, once they have left, will enable them to receive confidential support and counselling via the Gordon House website.

Meetings

In areas with a 'high' concentration of Gordon House Association ex-residents, e.g. near the location of a Gordon House Association project, Phase 4 group meetings are organised. These are mainly organised on a 'social' basis and held away from the project, however, they do provide an opportunity to maintain the support of others who shared the same experiences.

Support Workers

An outreach worker will, whenever possible and appropriate, visit ex-residents in their own home or phone on a frequency-diminishing basis helping the ex-resident to establish their own support network.

Those Awaiting a Vacancy in Gordon House

The floating support worker will also, whenever possible, offer to visit and/or work with those awaiting a vacancy in one of our houses, be they still in their own home, prison, a hostel or somewhere else where they can be visited/supported.

Family and Friends

We also offer appropriate (but only that which has been agreed with the client) support and/or information to family, friends and others affected by a Gordon House Association client.

Gordon House Association launched a much improved Outreach Service in 2003 offering far greater, and more unobtrusive and confidential, support to those in need.
